Sunrise Sail is a Lake Lanier Sailing Academy that offers easy sailing lessons on Lake Lanier to our members as well as the public. We are proud of the fact that our students and members really learn to sail. Sunrise Sailing Academy offers Private Lake Lanier Sailing Classes at the same price or less than the other Sailing Schools charge for group lessons. We do offer group lessons and group discounts for two or more students. Group or Semi-private lessons are limited to 3 students; you will never share a class with more than two others. Classes may be scheduled with as few as one person and generally, on the date you desire. Other school multi-student classes, where the focus is on getting the entire class through the course, as opposed to focusing on you, one on one, at your pace, not the slowest student in the class. We offer discounted multi-student class rates and limit to three students per boat. We make Lake Lanier sailing lessons affordable for you and your friends or family!

FreeTime Sailing Fleet allows our students the opportunity to practice their newly acquired sailing skills on the boat or similar that they train on. Once certified, our students are qualified to join our Freetime Fleet, at the tiller or wheel boat level.

Our Private Lesson prices are the same as other schools multi-student classes where the focus is on getting the entire class though the course as opposed to focusing on you, one on one, at your pace, not the other students in the class.

ASA 101 – BASIC KEELBOAT CERTIFICATION
Demonstrated ability to skipper a sloop-rigged keelboat of approximately 20 to 27 feet in length by day in light to moderate winds and sea conditions. Knowledge of basic sailing terminology, parts and functions, helm commands, basic sail trim, points of sail, buoyage, seamanship and safety including basic navigation rules to avoid collisions and hazards. Auxiliary power operation is not required.
ASA 103 – BASIC COASTAL CRUISING
Demonstrated ability to skipper a sloop-rigged auxiliary powered (outboard or inboard engine) keelboat of approximately 25 to 35 feet length by day in moderate winds and sea conditions. Knowledge of cruising sailboat terminology, basic boat systems, auxiliary engine operation, docking procedures, intermediate sail trim, navigation rules, basic coastal navigation, anchoring, weather forecast interpretation, safety and seamanship.
ASA 104 – BARE BOAT CRUISING
Learn how to sail a sloop-rigged, auxiliary powered 30′-45′ sailboat during a multi-day cruise upon inland/coastal waters in moderate/heavy winds and sea conditions. Learn about provisioning, boat systems, auxiliary engines, advanced sail trim, coastal navigation, anchoring / mooring, docking, emergency operations, weather, and more.
ASA 105 – BASIC COASTAL NAVIGATION
Able to demonstrate the navigational theory required to safely navigate a sailing vessel in coastal or inland waters.
ASA 118 – Cruising Catamaran
Learn to skipper an auxiliary-powered sailing cruising catamaran of approximately 30-45′ feet in length during a multi-day liveaboard cruise upon inland or coastal waters in moderate to heavy winds (up to 30 knots) and sea conditions.
ASA 118 – Docking Endorsement
Learn basic docking skills for boats with single inboard or outboard engines. Discover the basic theory and hands-on techniques needed to dock and undock boats in an efficient manner and without damage or injury.
